We sand back to bare wood, treat it, and rebuild the finish in thin coats — melamine, PU or deco paint depending on where the piece sits and how much handling it takes.

Yes for most jobs. We mask the wall and floor and work in place. Heavily damaged shutters do come off for a better finish.
